Aava (they/them) is a game developer, programmer, writer and weather observer from Nova Scotia. In their leisure time they tinker with different game ideas and explore the web. In recent years they have been fascinated with digital spaces. Places to just *be* online. Datascape, their solo project, explores this alongside with their fan project Cafe Alpha.
When they're not building spaces they're brushing their cats wondering what is in store for our planetary future, keeping an eye on the sky and planning an ADnD campaign.
Come, stay a while. Read some design breakdowns or blog posts :)
Skills
Game Development ExperienceAava has shipped a 3D cyberpunk adventure game called Datascape which released on Steam and Itch.io. It focused on unique player controllers, various vignette style pieces built into the void and a Neuromancer-inspired heist which takes you to a few places in your restricted zone of the datascape.
Lately they've been taken by the idea of a creature befriender set in a solarpunk world. Using the battle screen to bond with your monster friends and traveling a world in which you never need to battle anyone.
They also have been planning a large project called SoLA, currently a non-violent 2D platformer demo with intricate dialogue paths. But with greater plans to incorporate aspects from a few other genres: 2D non-violent metroidvania and 3D adventure game (KRZ).
They've worked on many other small games such as Tyalband, Heartmend Cafe, Untitled Rhythm Game, It rained, and others.
